Medigene 5% Chlorhexidine Solution contains a standard 5% Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG), a well known disinfectant-antiseptic which is used for the disinfection of both the patient’s skin and the hands of the medical personnel before surgery.
Medigene 5% Chlorhexidine Solution is used to clean and disinfect wounds, cuts, abrasions and burns. It is excellent in the treatment of oral yeast infections and the prevention of dental plaque.
Medigene 5% Chlorhexidine Solution is also used to sterilize surgical instruments and to keep urinary catheters from blocking.
Chlorhexidine is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines, one of the safest and most effective antiseptics available.

- Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Directions of use
- As a disinfectant for wounds & burns: Use 0.05% w/v (Dilute 1 part in 2000). For swabbing in obstetrics & gynaecology: Use 0.05% w/v (Dilute 1 part in 2000).
- For pre-operative skin disinfection: Use 0.5% in 70% alcohol (Dilute 1 part in 2000).
- Storage of sterile instruments: 10ml makes up to 1 litre + sterile water.
- As an emergency disinfectant: Dilute 100ml in 150ml water. Immerse and soak for 2 minutes. (Excluding endoscopes with cemented glass parts).

FIRST AID
- If on skin, wash with soap & water. Rinse well with clean water.
- If in eyes, rinse well with water. Remove any contact lenses. Continue rinsing for 5 minutes.
- If inhaled, move to fresh air & rest where you can breathe comfortably.
- If ingested, do not induce vomiting. Drink a glass of water.
Seek medical attention/advice if you feel unwell or any irritation persists.
